Illinois Telecommunications Act Rewrite 2005: Issues and Answers

With the Illinois Telecommunications Act due to sunset on June 30, 2005, lawmakers must consider the profound changes in technology and the marketplace that have occurred since the last legislative revision. Equitable cost sharing arrangements must be put into place for social programs and responsibilities and the proper role of government intervention in the emerging telecommunications marketplace must be considered. In addition, Federal legislation and regulatory rulemaking also significantly affect local Illinois markets. This workshop is intended to educate stakeholders and stimulate further discussion of these critical issues of telecommunications policy.
